Inaugural Conference of the Search Engines and Society Network (SEASON 2025)

On behalf of the Search Engines and Society Network (SEASON), we invite you to attend the inaugural conference of the network, to be held at HAW Hamburg, Germany, 24th – 25th September 2025.

SEASON is an annual conference that explores the multifaceted role of search engines in today's culture and society. SEASON brings together researchers from different fields and fosters interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration to deepen our understanding of search engines as cultural, societal, and technical artefacts, as well as how they are used in various practices.

Now available, the Fediverse Search and Discovery Provider–– ‘Fediscoverer’ –– allows Fediverse servers to share publicly discoverable accounts and content to improve search and discovery on individual servers. In line with the decentralised and federated nature of the network, Fediverse platforms like Mastodon have thus made this type of ‘search and discovery’ opt-in and propose a way to publish this information.

NGI Search is participating at the International Conference on June 25-27, in Lille during a Special Session showcasing NGI Search achievements in an academic environment. The registration price is in the range of 400-500 Euros, and the submissions consist on papers of approximately 7-8 pages (max 10). We will have a special session to present and discuss the papers.

The annual conference of OW2 is an international meeting of developers, IT companies, academics and non-profit organizations, bringing together the OSS community during two days of presentations ranging from tech topics to business and ethical issues of open source.

A break-out session dedicated to NGI (Next Generation Internet) project outcomes is scheduled on 18 June in the morning, followed by the NGI Innovators Meetup, organised by FoundingBox.
