The Open Search Symposium #ossym24 brings together the Open Web Search community in Europe for the sixth time. The hybrid conference provides a forum to discuss and further develop the ideas and concepts of open internet search, search and AI, and related topics in various formats including scientific talks, panels, workshops, demonstrations, student challenges and informal discussion spaces. Participants include researchers, data centres, libraries, policy makers, legal and ethical experts, and society. A great opportunity for three NGI Search projects to exchange best practices and find new synergies.

MindBugs Discovery, an NGI Search funded project, recently interact with French President Emmanuel Macron during his visit to the FrancoTech Summit in Paris. MindBugs Discovery helps explore and understand disinformation by showing connections within false narratives.
A demo listing fakenews about the French President himself was provided during his visit. The project was also presented at the
IPI World Congress 2024 in Sarajevo and at OW2con'24 in Paris.

NGI Search is showcasing at Open Expo Europe on June 13, 2024, in Madrid with an NGI Search booth animated by the Linknovate, FundingBox partners, and Bitergia expert representing the OW2 open source community.
The NGI Search project supported by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe programme is a cascade funding project designed to support the development of digital innovation in the domain of searching and discovering data on the internet. The beneficiaries from the Open Call 1 to 4 are presented at Open Expo Europe. Also, the Open Call #5 is also declared open to possible new candidates until July 29, 2024. More about this call.

RENEE RIDGWAY Presents NGI Search at OW2con'24
June 11-12, 2024 in Paris, BTECH Post-Doc Renée Ridgway presented the NGI Search project at the Open Source Community Annual Conference (OW2con'24). The two-day conference showcases Open Source software in modern information systems developed and implemented by people from around the world. This year added a special focus–– financing open source and the commons.

OW2Con'24 announcing NGI Search Final Open Call

Renée Ridgway, PhD, Postdoctoral researcher at the SHAPE Centre, School of Communication and Culture Department of Digital Design and Information Studies/BTECH Aarhus University fosters OW2con'24 attendees to study the final NGI Search open call running from early June to the end of July 2024.
Moreover, several NGI Searchers from recent open calls participate at OW2con’24, to present their outcomes. They also evaluate synergy opportunies during a dedicated breakout session.
